Today’s pint-sized post serves as a Happy 204th Birthday card for our patron saint. It’s that most wonderful time of the year, when we decorate the Phylogenetic Tree, sit down to a Phylum-Feast with loved ones and remember those who are no longer with us due to extinction. Unfortunately, Darwin Day tends to be over-shadowed, somewhat ironically, by that other up-coming holiday which celebrates our inherent drive to pass on our genes by getting into our partner’s jeans.
So let’s make a special effort this year to remember that snowy-bearded, old, dude whose sheer awesomeness continues to inspire greatness. Do something to celebrate science and human achievement today. Read a book, watch a documentary or simply go to the zoo and taunt the spider monkeys with your kick-ass opposable thumbs.
